In Hungarian it’s very nice; you say “SZAJKÓHUKKY.”

i used to quote excerpts from the french version when i was chatting with nathalie, to impress her with my exotic knowledge of french.

there’s great essays about translation of poetry in douglas hofstadter’s “metamagical themas.” which is my bible.

Nice.

Metamagical Themas is your bible? I just have it because I think it makes me look smart - maybe I should actually read it.

oh man, but it’s so readable! it’s not like godel escher bach… it’s a collection of essays, so you can just do a bit at a time. try chapters 3, 12, 20 and 29-32. so, so good.

maybe it isn’t my bible… we were just saying how the bible isn’t very readable.
